NFL Combine 2023 Wraps Up with Top Performances and Some Surprises
The 2023 NFL Combine concluded on Sunday after three days of intensive drills and assessments. Top college football prospects showcased their skills as they vied for attention from representatives of all 32 NFL teams.
C.J. Stroud of Ohio State University dazzled during the combine, finishing with top marks in several categories such as speed, agility, and accuracy. He is considered by many scouts as a top quarterback prospect for the upcoming draft.
Anthony Richardson of the University of Florida stunned many observers with his raw physical talents. The 6’4″ and 240-pound quarterback showcased his arm strength, speed, and explosiveness, earning high praise from several NFL coaches and executives.
A lot of attention was also given to offensive linemen and running backs during the third day of the combine. Analysts from Sports Illustrated noted that several players, including Rashid Williams and Javonte Williams, stood out with their impressive performances.
Despite the impressive showings, some caution was advised by experts. An editorial in Behind The Steel Curtain warned against putting too much weight on what it calls the “NFL Scouting Combine Winner” label. The article cautioned that some players who perform well at the combine may not necessarily translate their success on the field.
The final day of the combine also saw CBS Sports grading some of the top quarterback performances. Along with Stroud and Richardson, Will Levis of the University of Kentucky was also evaluated. After assessing their performances, CBS Sports named Stroud as the top quarterback performer for the 2023 NFL Combine.
The 2023 NFL Draft is set to take place in April, and the performances at the combine could play a significant role in determining the future of many college athletes.
