The explosion caused a partial collapse of the house, leaving a scene of devastation as debris covered the area. Nearby homes were also affected, with structural damage noted in three adjacent buildings. Rescue workers swiftly arrived to aid the injured, using stretchers to evacuate individuals trapped under the rubble.
Emergency officials suspect that a gas leak filled the home with flammable vapors, leading to the deadly blast. Over a dozen guests and family members sustained injuries, heightening the urgency for rescue efforts. The father of the groom, Hanif Masih, described a night of joy turned into chaos, noting that many had gone to bed around 3:00 AM on Sunday, only to awaken to destruction.
As first responders combed through the debris, police established a cordon around the site to facilitate the investigation. Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani expressed deep sorrow over the incident, labeling it “a heart-wrenching event that turned celebrations into mourning.” He emphasized the need for increased safety regulations regarding the use of liquefied petroleum gas, which has been implicated in numerous accidents across the country.
