“Tragedy Strikes: Two Police Officers and Suspect Dead in Barron County Traffic Stop Shootout”

UPDATE: Two police officers and a suspect were killed in a shootout during a traffic stop in Barron County, Wisconsin. According to WQOW TV News 18, the officers were attempting to make a routine stop when the suspect opened fire, killing both officers. The suspect was also killed in the exchange of gunfire.

FOX6 News Milwaukee reports that the shooting took place on Highway 53 near Haugen, Wisconsin. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and other law enforcement agencies responded to the scene.

KSTP reports that the identities of the officers and the suspect have not been released at this time. The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation into the shooting.

WEAU reports that highway 53 was closed in both directions following the shooting but has since re-opened. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
