Tragic Car Crash Claims Life of Dedicated Stratford School Employee, Anthony Moran

Bridgeport, Connecticut – A tragic car crash in Trumbull over the weekend claimed the life of a beloved 33-year-old Stratford school employee, Anthony James Moran. Moran was remembered as a dedicated family man who had a passion for his dog and the popular mobile game Pokémon Go. He was also described as a hard worker and a consummate teammate by his colleagues. The accident occurred on White Plains Road and left two other individuals seriously injured. The Trumbull Police Department, along with the Fairfield Police Department, is currently investigating the crash. As of now, no charges have been filed.

Moran, a lifelong resident of the region, attended the Assumption School in Fairfield and achieved a black belt in the martial art of taekwondo. He had been working as an IT technician at the Stratford school system’s technology department for the past six years, taking on a full-time position just last year. Moran’s dedication and pride in his work were widely recognized by his superintendent, Uyi Osunde.

In addition to his role at the school, Moran was also employed at Fortuna’s Catering Company in Stratford. The catering business paid tribute to Moran on Facebook, describing him as an irreplaceable member of the community who was loved by all. Prior to his position at Fortuna’s, Moran worked at The Smithy Restaurant in Monroe, where he started his first job at the age of 14. He was credited with helping the restaurant stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The crash occurred when the Lexus convertible Moran was riding in as a passenger collided head-on with a Chrysler sedan. The Lexus driver, a 22-year-old Trumbull man, swerved to avoid a car stopped in the left lane, causing the collision. Moran and the driver were ejected from the vehicle, resulting in Moran’s fatal injuries. The driver of the Chrysler sedan and the driver of the Lexus were transported to hospitals for treatment.

An autopsy conducted by the state Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Moran’s cause of death was blunt impact injuries and ruled it as an accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities have not released the names of the injured drivers.
