Actress Annie Wersching, best known for her roles in Star Trek: Picard, 24, and Timeless, passed away on January 28th at the age of 45.
The cause of death was cancer, which she had been diagnosed with a few months prior.
Wersching began her career in the early 2000s, appearing in several television shows such as Runaways, Bosch, and The Mentalist.
In 2009, she was cast as the villainous Renee Walker in the eighth season of 24, for which she was nominated for a Saturn Award.
In 2019, she was cast as the Romulan leader Laris in Star Trek: Picard, a role which won her critical acclaim.
Her family released a statement expressing their grief and thanking fans for their support.
“Annie was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and friend,” the statement read. “We are heartbroken by her passing and are focusing on celebrating her life and legacy at this time.”
Wersching is survived by her husband and two children. She will be remembered for her talent and her ability to bring joy to all who knew her.
