CINCINNATI, OH – A late-night shooting in the West End of Cincinnati has left one individual dead and several injured, including juveniles, according to CPD Chief Teresa Theetge. The incident took place close to 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wade and Jones streets, adjacent to Laurel Playground.
While the deceased individual is identified as male, further specifics regarding their identity and age remain unconfirmed. Theetge detailed that among the five injured victims, the extent of their injuries varied significantly. Victims were rushed to either the UC Medical Center or Cincinnati Children’s for treatment.
At least two of the wounded were juveniles. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital revealed they are currently treating three children with gunshot injuries, all in “critical but stable” conditions.
Theetge expressed strong sentiments about the incident, describing it as “absolutely unacceptable” for Cincinnati. Concerned onlookers and residents approached the CPD, inquiring about the well-being of their loved ones.
The investigation is ongoing, with no suspect information currently available to the public. Townda Chambers, a longtime West End resident, voiced her distress regarding escalating crime in the area. Citing another recent incident where a local woman faced charges over the murder of her infant, Chambers lamented, “I’ve been down here too long, it’s time for me to move.”
