Tragic Sacramento Incident: 10-Year-Old Arrested for Fatal Shooting Found in Dad’s Stolen Gun

SACRAMENTO, California – A tragic incident unfolded in Sacramento, California, when a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed another child with a stolen gun he found in his father’s car. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported that the boy and his father were subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting.

Deputies responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at the 4700 block of Greenholme Drive to find the 10-year-old victim unresponsive and bleeding from his head and neck in the parking lot. The child was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses at the scene informed deputies that the individual responsible for the shooting had fled into a nearby apartment. Subsequently, an adult and two juveniles were detained from the apartment without incident, including the 53-year-old Arkete Davis and his 10-year-old son.

The young boy had taken a gun from inside his father’s vehicle, bragging about it before proceeding to shoot the victim once and fleeing into the nearby apartment, as reported by the deputies. A firearm was later discovered in a nearby trashcan, believed to have been disposed of by Davis.

Davis, who was legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm, now faces several felony firearm-related charges, as well as charges of child endangerment and accessory after the fact. The 10-year-old boy, on the other hand, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility.

The recovered firearm had been reported stolen in 2017, according to deputies. Davis is being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 3. It remains unclear whether Davis has retained an attorney.

In conclusion, a tragic incident involving a stolen gun, a 10-year-old boy, and a fatal shooting has left a community in mourning, while the individuals responsible are facing legal consequences for their actions.
