Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on “Face the Nation,” March 12, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen spoke to CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, addressing concerns around the state of the economy and the impact of new policies on American workers.

In the interview, Yellen highlighted the Biden administration’s focus on creating jobs and promoting a fairer economy through policies like the American Jobs Plan.

“Our goal is to create good-paying jobs, to rebuild our infrastructure, and to invest in the future of our workforce,” Yellen said. “We want to make sure that everyone has the chance to access the opportunities that the economy has to offer.”

The Treasury Secretary also discussed the importance of addressing climate change, calling it a “critical national security issue.”

“It’s essential that we take action now to protect our economy, our communities, and our planet for future generations,” Yellen said.

Yellen’s comments come amid ongoing debates over the federal minimum wage and stimulus payments, as well as concerns around inflation and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy.

“We understand the challenges that many Americans are facing right now, and we’re doing everything we can to support them,” Yellen said. “We know that recovery won’t be a straight line, but we’re committed to doing the hard work to get there.”
