Trump’s Shocking Claim: Paramount’s New Ownership No Better Than Its Past!

NEW YORK — Donald Trump has criticized Paramount Global’s recent ownership change, declaring it no better than its predecessors. His remarks came in reaction to a contentious “60 Minutes” interview featuring Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a figure he now considers a rival.

Trump’s comments followed Paramount’s announcement of a hostile bid for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), shortly after Netflix was revealed as the winning bidder for WBD’s studio assets, including HBO and HBO Max. The restructuring leaves the cable networks to operate as a separate entity.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his disdain for Greene, suggesting her recent behavior was influenced by her disappointment following interactions with him. He claimed her views had shifted dramatically and labeled her as incongruent with his “Make America Great Again” ideals.

The former president also took aim at Lesley Stahl, a correspondent for “60 Minutes,” asserting she had wronged him in the past through her reporting. He indicated that the new management at Paramount is not living up to expectations and criticized the airing of Greene’s segment, questioning its quality and the preparedness of its subject.

At the Kennedy Center Honors, Trump voiced concerns about the implications of a Netflix takeover of Warner Bros., mentioning the streaming service’s dominance in the market. However, he praised co-CEO Ted Sarandos, noting their recent meeting.

The Netflix deal will not encompass CNN, a frequent target of Trump’s criticism, while Paramount’s proposal, which includes CNN, seeks regulatory approval. Previously, Paramount settled a lawsuit with Trump for $16 million over an edited interview with Kamala Harris on “60 Minutes.”

Notably, Trump’s alliance with Paramount’s current leadership appears complex. He has previously praised CEO David Ellison, recognizing familial ties to a long-time ally. Trump once participated in a 90-minute interview for “60 Minutes,” conducted by Norah O’Donnell, although the segment aired with edits.

Greene has emerged as one of Trump’s most outspoken critics from within the GOP. Recently, she pushed to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein and criticized her party’s response to rising health care costs. Announcing her early departure from Congress next year, Greene indicated concerns about potential challenges to her seat from Trump-backed candidates.

Requests for comments from Paramount and CBS representatives following Trump’s criticisms went unanswered.
