US Breaks Record Low Wind Chill: Mount Washington Reaches Minus-108 Degrees

The frigid temperatures of winter have been felt across the United States this year, but nowhere have they been more extreme than at the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. On Monday, the temperature there dropped to a record-breaking minus 108 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the lowest temperature ever recorded in the United States.

Meteorologists have attributed the record-breaking cold to an arctic freeze that has been sweeping across the Northeast in recent weeks. The coldest temperatures were recorded at the summit of Mount Washington, where wind chill temperatures dropped to as low as minus 108 degrees Fahrenheit.

The extreme cold weather has been felt across the Northeast, with temperatures in some areas falling to as low as minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit. In Cranston, Rhode Island, the cold weather has been blamed for a heat issue at the Cranston Street Armory and the death of a six-month-old baby.

The extreme cold is expected to ease up in the coming days, but the record-breaking temperatures at Mount Washington are a reminder of the power of winter weather. The National Weather Service has warned people to take necessary precautions when venturing outside in cold weather.
