Viral video shows Ohio woman beating and screaming at wailing infant in crib as father films

DAYTON, OH – In a disturbing incident that has captured widespread attention on social media, a 21-year-old Ohio mother has been taken into custody on charges of child endangering. The arrest of Haley Marie Ryan follows a flurry of reports to law enforcement about a distressing video showing her allegedly yelling at and hitting her infant child.

The event came to light after the video garnered thousands of views on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, sparking immediate community backlash. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office acted promptly on the complaints, leading to Ryan’s apprehension on Wednesday.

According to officials, the video depicts a woman, identified as Ryan, standing over a crib and shouting at the child before seemingly launching a series of slaps or hits directed at the baby. The video’s quality is poor, leaving some ambiguity about the physical contact made. The person recording, who appears to check on the infant at the video’s conclusion, has been indicated by law enforcement as the child’s father.

The infant involved, who is less than a year old, is currently under the protective care of Montgomery County Children’s Services. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains very active, and further charges, including against individuals who may have failed to intervene or report the abuse, are under consideration.

Ryan is currently held at the Montgomery County Jail, with bail set at $25,000, pending her court appearance slated for August 21.
