Warzone Hero Daniel Burke: A British Military Volunteer’s Journey from Manchester to Ukraine

MANCHESTER, England – Daniel Burke, a former British soldier, has been reported missing after serving as a volunteer in Ukraine. Burke, originally from Manchester, had a decorated military career, serving with the Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan before becoming a builder. Following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, he joined Kurdish anti-Islamic State forces and later became one of the first British military volunteers to travel to Ukraine.

Burke’s family, although concerned for his safety, respected his decision to take on the risks associated with serving in foreign warzones. Burke’s mother described him as someone who simply wanted to help people. His brother expressed that Burke preferred his current path rather than spending his life working on a building site.

Adding to their grief, Burke’s family felt a lack of communication from the authorities. His mother reported his disappearance to the Greater Manchester Police but was initially told that there was little they could do. It was only on Friday night that they finally received a visit from the authorities informing them that a “family liaison” officer would be assigned.

The whereabouts and well-being of Daniel Burke remain unknown, causing distress to his loved ones who are holding onto hope for his safe return.
