LONGVIEW, WA – An 11-year-old stumbled upon a chilling scene on Halloween night, discovering his parents dead in their kitchen after a violent altercation that left both with fatal injuries.

According to police, the parents apparently fatally stabbed and shot each other.

Authorities responded to an urgent call made by the young boy around 6 p.m., where he reported the tragic deaths of his parents at their residence in the 4700 block of Olympia Way. Emergency personnel responding to the boy’s call found 38-year-old Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz and 39-year-old Cecilia Robles Ochoa lying unconscious on the floor. They were pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Investigators revealed that the child, the couple’s son, was home during the incident but remained oblivious to the violent events as he was engaged in video games in a separate room using earbuds.

The coroner’s examination concluded that Alvarado Saenz suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, while Robles Ochoa sustained both gunshot and stab injuries. Key evidence, including a knife and gun, was recovered from the scene. It was later discovered that the gun had been taken by Alvarado Saenz from his place of work without authorization.

Detectives piecing together the events found that the couple had been embroiled in a violent struggle, though they faced challenges in identifying the primary aggressor. Interviews conducted with acquaintances of the couple revealed ongoing relationship difficulties and plans for separation.

The tragedy leaves behind three children, prompting relatives to set up a GoFundMe campaign seeking support for funeral costs and the ongoing needs of the surviving children. “We have tragically lost two members of our family,” the fundraiser statement read, appealing for community assistance.

Though the immediate scene investigation has been concluded, authorities in Longview continue to delve deeper into the case, seeking to fully understand the dynamics that led to this startling tragedy.
