Williamsport Man Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Violating Federal Supervision

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — A Williamsport man has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for violating the terms of his supervised release.

Michael William Wright, 30, was found to be in violation of his supervision based on both possession and use of controlled substances, as well as an incident of domestic violence assault in Williamsport on October 7.

Wright’s violation of his federal supervision stemmed from his role in using or carrying a firearm during the commission of a drug trafficking felony. The United States District Court Mannion handed down the sentence, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania prosecuting the case.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Geoffrey MacArthur and Luisa Honora Berti. According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the maximum penalty under federal law for this supervised release violation is five years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.

The defendant’s actions led to his arrest for a domestic violence assault, resulting in the 1 year and 6 month prison sentence.
