Woman runs over her boyfriend and their toddler then won’t take toddler to hospital

LAKE WALES, FL – A Florida mother is in custody after allegedly striking her boyfriend and their toddler with her vehicle during a domestic confrontation and then failing to seek immediate medical care for the injured child.

The violent incident occurred in Lake Wales, where authorities reported that Aaliyah Ross, 27, engaged in a physical fight with her partner at their residence. The altercation escalated when Ross allegedly shoved her boyfriend, who subsequently fled outside with their 16-month-old son.

Polk County Sheriff’s records detail that during the altercation, the boyfriend threw a cinder block at Ross’ car, enraging her further. It is alleged that Ross then took control of the vehicle and deliberately drove at her boyfriend as he carried the child to the relative safety of the yard. Despite his attempt to evade, both father and son were reportedly struck before Ross crashed into a trailer on the property.

“Aaliyah’s actions were unthinkable. She ran over her boyfriend and their baby — a truly harrowing incident,” said Sheriff Grady Judd, recounting the event.

The subsequent moments were captured by a neighbor’s security system, illustrating the gravity of the situation. After the incident, Ross allegedly seized the boy and departed with two other children in the vehicle. Although her boyfriend contacted her and implored that she take their child to the hospital, Ross reportedly refused and returned the boy to their home unattended, advising the boyfriend that the responsibility for seeking medical aid was his.

The boyfriend ultimately retrieved the injured toddler and facilitated his hospitalization. As per Sheriff Judd, the young boy sustained critical injuries, including multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and extensive bruising.

Ross was later apprehended in Orlando and is now held in Orange County Jail, awaiting extradition to Polk County. She is charged with aggravated child abuse, aggravated battery, child neglect, and committing a hit-and-run involving property damage.

The shocking event underscores the potential severity of domestic disputes escalating to physical violence, with innocent bystanders, particularly children, facing the risk of serious harm. The young boy remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition as the investigation into the incident continues.
