SPRINGFIELD, KY – A 23-year-old man reportedly confessed to robbing a Wisconsin bank, purchasing firearms and camouflage with the stolen money, and then traveling to Kentucky, where he allegedly shot two women, according to Kentucky State Police.
Roosevelt Davis faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and first-degree burglary following the incident.
Authorities say Davis previously faced charges involving one of the victims, Kadesha Burch, aged 31, whom he allegedly strangled. The second victim, a 52-year-old woman, survived and was hospitalized for her injuries.
The shooting unfolded on Friday morning in a home on Claybrooke Avenue, prompting local police in Springfield to request assistance from state police. Responding officers conducted a thorough investigation at the scene.
Investigators claim Davis, originally from Milwaukee, forcibly entered the residence before opening fire on the two women and subsequently fleeing the scene. A statewide alert enabled police in Shelbyville to stop a suspect vehicle, where Davis was identified as the driver.
In custody, Davis allegedly admitted to bank robbery and described purchasing firearms and camouflage with the proceeds to carry out his plan to confront the women in Kentucky.
According to police reports, Davis forced entry through a side door, using his shoulder to gain access before discharging approximately 10 rounds within the home.
Family members of Burch reportedly received threatening messages from Davis following the prior strangulation incident, highlighting a history of intimidation. The police investigation continues as they gather more information surrounding the events leading up to the crime.
