LAS VEGAS, NV – A 15-year-old boy is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting and killing his father following a disagreement over confiscated electronic devices, according to local police.

Officers were dispatched around 8:40 p.m. Saturday night to a residence near Steinke Lane and Tampa Court in response to a report from a distressed woman claiming her father had been shot by her younger brother.

The incident unfolded in a neighborhood close to Smoke Ranch Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside the home. Tragically, he was pronounced dead on the scene. As officers investigated the crime scene, the suspect was reportedly absent but was eventually located in the vicinity of Balzar Avenue near Smoke Ranch and Decatur Boulevard.

Investigators identified the suspect as the deceased man’s 15-year-old son. Preliminary reports suggest a family dispute erupted after the boy’s parents removed his electronic devices as a disciplinary measure for previous trouble. The situation escalated, leading to a heated argument with his father.

The teenager is said to have descended to a lower level of the house, retrieved a firearm, and proceeded to shoot his father multiple times. He was subsequently apprehended and taken to Clark County Juvenile Hall, where he faces charges including open murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Nearby resident Aldair Martin recounted the tumultuous evening, describing how screams and helicopter activity filled the neighborhood. “It’s hard to wrap your head around such a tragedy, especially within a family,” Martin expressed, noting that though he didn’t know the boy well, they were close in age, and the family was part of the local Mormon community.

Martin also witnessed the boy’s sister, a fellow teenager, run to a neighboring house seeking help, frantically explaining that her brother had shot their father. This devastating incident has sent shockwaves through a community struggling to comprehend the violence that shattered a seemingly ordinary family evening.
