A shocking 50-car train derailment caused a massive fire and forced evacuations in East Palestine, Ohio, on Wednesday morning.
The derailment occurred around 5 a.m. local time, with a train carrying hazardous materials catching fire and sending a plume of smoke into the air. The East Palestine Fire Department and other local authorities were on the scene to contain the blaze and evacuate the area.
According to Fox News, the fire has been contained, but authorities are still trying to determine the type of chemicals burning in the area.
The Associated Press reported that the fire caused a village evacuation and that the fire marshal and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were on the scene.
CBS Pittsburgh reported that the fire was still burning at 10 a.m. local time and that authorities were still trying to put it out.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
