Ukraine, Russia Exchange Prisoners: British Volunteers Returned in Historic Swap

In a major prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia, dozens of soldiers have been freed and the bodies of two British volunteers have been returned.

The prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia saw the release of 35 Ukrainian soldiers by Russia. The exchange was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross and took place on the Ukrainian side of the conflict zone.

In addition to the soldiers, the bodies of two British volunteers, Chris Parry and Andrew Bagshaw, were also recovered in the prisoner swap. The two men had been missing since 2014, and their families had been searching for them since then.

The release of the Ukrainian soldiers has been welcomed by the international community, including the US State Department. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement, “We are deeply relieved that the Ukrainian soldiers have been freed and that the bodies of the two British volunteers have been recovered.”

The prisoner exchange is seen as a sign of progress in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It is hoped that the exchange will lead to further peace talks between the two countries.

CNN-News18 has released a video of the Ukrainian soldiers being released by Russia, showing the joy of the soldiers and their families. Al Jazeera English has also reported on the prisoner exchange, providing further updates on the situation.
