Seven people were killed and one injured in a shooting in Half Moon Bay, California on Monday morning. A suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being questioned by the authorities.
The shooting occurred in a residential area at around 11:30 a.m. local time. The suspect, identified as Chunli Zhao, is an Asian farm worker who was parked next to the scene of the shooting.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing people running from the area. One woman who was parked next to Zhao described the scene as chaotic.
“I heard a lot of gunshots, and people were running and screaming,” she said. “I saw the suspect running away and then the police came.”
Police have not released any further details about the incident, including a possible motive. However, they have confirmed that the suspect is in custody.
The victims have not yet been identified, but authorities are working to notify their families.
