Austin Police Release Chilling Surveillance Footage of Fatal 6th Street Shooting – A Shocking New Video Emerges

AUSTIN, Texas – Surveillance video of an officer-involved shooting on 6th Street late Saturday night shows one person dead and three bystanders injured, according to the Austin Police Department. A nearby bar owner provided KXAN with their surveillance video of the incident.

The footage shows officers approaching someone in the top left of the screen before drawing their guns. As the person falls to the ground, it’s difficult to discern their actions, but it appears they had something in their hand pointed upward. “As officers approached the suspect, the suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it in the direction of officers and innocent bystanders,” said Interim Austin Police Chief Robin Henderson.

The video depicts officers turning the person over and handcuffing them, while blood could be seen on the ground in a later segment. Police stated that three bystanders were injured, with one in critical condition. They are investigating whether the injuries were caused by the suspect or by the police.

Witnesses at a nearby bar described a frightening scene as the shots rang out, prompting patrons to rush inside and take cover. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of stringent security measures, said bouncer Muhammad Abdullah.

The incident was captured on police body cameras, and Henderson said it will be made public within 10 business days. However, due to the holidays, it could be as late as Jan. 2. The police did not disclose the name of the bar where the shooting occurred.
