As the world continues to recover from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, economists in China are cautiously optimistic about the country’s economic prospects for the upcoming year.
According to the Global Times, economists are projecting that China’s GDP will record growth of at least 6 percent in 2023, injecting much-needed impetus into the global economic recovery.
The news comes as China begins to cautiously ease restrictions on consumer spending, with the New York Times reporting that the country is beginning to spend again on items such as flowers, fresh fish, and movies.
However, economists have also warned of the potential for global inflation due to rising prices, with the China Daily suggesting that the nation can help to cool this by increasing its own spending.
The Hong Kong Standard also reported that economists are projecting that China’s GDP growth will be around 6.5 percent in 2023.
While the economic outlook for China in the coming year remains uncertain, economists are optimistic that the country will continue to contribute to the global economic recovery.
