Cryptocurrency Scandal: Lena Dunham Scripts Movie on FTX Founder’s Legal Woes

Los Angeles, CA – Acclaimed actress and filmmaker Lena Dunham has taken on a new project, working on a script for a feature film centered around FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. She is set to adapt author Michael Lewis’ bestselling book “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon” into a screenplay for Apple Studios and A24.

Bankman-Fried, who founded FTX in 2019, saw the cryptocurrency exchange soar to fame with endorsements from high-profile figures like Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, and Larry David. However, his success was overshadowed by legal troubles that led to a 25-year prison sentence and the forfeiture of over $11 billion due to charges of fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. Despite his conviction, Bankman-Fried is appealing the decision.

Dunham, known for her work on the hit series “Girls,” recently completed filming a Netflix romantic-comedy series where she served as both writer and director. Her past projects include writing and directing the films “Sharp Stick” and “Catherine Called Birdy.” Additionally, she starred in and created the HBO series “Girls,” which concluded in 2017 after six successful seasons.

Michael Lewis, the author of “Going Infinite,” has a history of his nonfiction books being adapted into successful feature films such as “The Blind Side,” “Moneyball,” and “The Big Short.” Apple Studios and A24 have several other projects in the works, including Spike Lee’s “High and Low” starring Denzel Washington and the Jennifer Lawrence-led mystery “The Wives.”

Represented by CAA, ID PR, and Hansen Jacobson, Dunham’s involvement in adapting Lewis’ book was first reported by Variety. As she continues to expand her portfolio of work, the collaboration between Dunham, Apple Studios, and A24 is highly anticipated by fans and industry insiders alike.
