This animated feature is already setting records, achieving a remarkable $132.1 million in its opening weekend globally, marking the highest anime launch in history.
The film grossed approximately $70 million across North America, while Latin America contributed $29 million to the impressive total. In Europe, the film secured $17.4 million, with additional noteworthy earnings coming from various regions, including $6 million from the Middle East, $5.2 million from India, and $3.2 million from Australia, alongside smaller international markets.
In South Korea, where Infinity Castle is already the third highest-grossing film of the year, it amassed $34.7 million thus far. The franchise continues to illustrate the growing popularity of anime worldwide, echoing the success of its predecessor, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which astonished audiences in 2021.
The film’s notable success in Latin America saw it take the title of the biggest anime opening in several countries, including Mexico, Brazil, and Peru. Markets like Argentina and Chile also reflected significant earnings, each achieving about $2.2 million.
European markets were equally receptive. The United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy reported record-breaking figures for an anime release as they usher in a wave of new fans eager to engage with the genre. Additionally, the Middle East witnessed its own milestones, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE leading in box office returns for the category.
India’s launch marked an impressive $5.2 million, establishing the area as a hotspot for anime consumption. Meanwhile, Australia reported a $3.2 million haul, the highest opening for an anime film in the region.
In Japan, where Infinity Castle originally premiered, it has already grossed over $282 million. Financial analysts predict that the film will surpass the $400 million mark as it continues to perform strongly in multiple territories.
As this animated feature continues its international rollout, further openings in French and German-speaking markets are scheduled for the coming weekend, promising to expand its audience even more.
In addition to Infinity Castle, the international box office also welcomes The Conjuring: Last Rites, which reported $60.5 million in its second weekend across 76 markets. Having surpassed the $200 million mark globally, this horror film solidified its position among top releases, particularly in Latin America and Asia, where it resonated well with viewers.
As anticipation builds for upcoming releases such as Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, audience engagement remains high across various markets. With strong performances in the UK, France, and Australia, the film managed to resonate well, suggesting that family films and nostalgic franchises continue to hold significant appeal in today’s cinemas.
