DUI arrest for NFL’s Richard Sherman

BELLEVUE, WA – Former NFL star Richard Sherman was taken into custody early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. Arrest records from King County Jail indicate that Sherman, 35, was apprehended following a traffic stop in Bellevue, Washington.

The incident occurred when the Washington State Patrol pulled over Sherman for speeding, clocked at 19 miles over the speed limit. During the stop, officers noticed signs of impairment, according to information released by the authorities. The ex-cornerback claimed to have consumed two margaritas and consented to a field sobriety test, which led to his arrest.

Sherman, who has become known outside the gridiron for his analytical work on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football, now faces legal scrutiny. A probable cause affidavit stated that Sherman displayed “bloodshot and watery” eyes and that the officers on the scene detected an “odor of intoxicants” on his breath.

The incident marks yet another brush with law enforcement for Sherman, who last year pled guilty to two misdemeanors following a related incident involving driving and a domestic dispute. Despite the allegations, details surrounding Sherman’s legal representation or official comments from his team were not immediately available.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has set a court hearing for Sherman on Monday. The matter of his bail and conditions of release remains pending until the court deliberates further.

Sherman’s illustrious 11-year NFL career featured stints with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His contributions on the field were matched by his incisive commentary as a football analyst. However, his recent encounter with the law may now cast a shadow over his post-playing career activities.
