Charles Kimbrough, beloved actor best known for his role as anchorman Jim Dial on the hit television show “Murphy Brown,” has died at 86.

Kimbrough died in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4th, according to his manager, Robert Malcolm. The cause of death has not been released, however, Malcolm said that Kimbrough had been in declining health for some time.

He was nominated for two Emmys for his role as Jim Dial, and was also well known for his roles in the films “The Towering Inferno” and “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming”.

Kimbrough is survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren.

In a statement, Malcolm said, “Charles was a beloved actor and a wonderful person. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.”

The news of Kimbrough’s death has been met with an outpouring of love and support from fans and friends.
