In a tragic incident in Ocala, Florida, a mother of four was fatally shot in a “neighborhood feud” over her kids playing. The incident happened on Monday afternoon, when the victim, identified as 27-year-old Ajike “AJ” Owens, knocked on her neighbor’s door to ask them to stop yelling at her children for playing outside.

According to the police, the neighbor, who has been identified as a white woman, fired multiple shots at Owens, hitting her in the chest. Owens was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The neighbor fled the scene but was later taken into custody on Friday, four days after the incident.

The incident has sparked outrage and protests, with activists demanding justice for Owens. The protesters have also called for the arrest of the neighbor, who they say should be charged with murder.

“The killing of AJ Owens is a tragic reminder of the systemic racism and violence that Black women and girls face on a daily basis,” said a spokesperson for Black Lives Matter Ocala. “We demand justice for AJ and for an end to this culture of violence and hate.”

The incident comes just weeks after another Black individual was fatally shot by a white neighbor in the same state. Activists say that these incidents are a clear indication of the racial divide and violence that continues to plague communities of color across the country.

“We need to stand together and demand an end to this pattern of violence and hate,” said a local activist. “We need accountability and justice for the victims and their families. We cannot allow this to continue.”
