House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced the appointment of several Republican members to the newly formed investigative panel on Wednesday. The panel, which will be chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), is tasked with conducting a sweeping investigation into the Biden administration.
The panel is composed of seven members, including Reps. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), Michael McCaul (R-Texas), and Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). The other members are Reps. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), John Katko (R-N.Y.), Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.), and Diana Harshbarger (R-Tenn.).
The panel is expected to look into a wide range of issues, including the Biden administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, the border crisis, and the economy. It is also likely to investigate potential conflicts of interest with the Biden family.
McCarthy said the panel was formed in response to the “unprecedented power grab” by the Biden administration. He added that the panel would “hold the administration accountable and ensure that the American people’s interests are always put first.”
The panel is expected to begin its work soon and will report its findings to the House of Representatives. It is unclear how long the investigation will take or what the outcome will be.
