Houston woman kills boyfriend by shoving screwdriver up his nose while he was on crutches

HOUSTON, TX – A young Houston woman is facing a murder charge after police say she fatally stabbed her boyfriend multiple times in the head and face with a screwdriver during a heated argument, court records show.

Jayla Brown, 22, was arrested and charged in connection with the December 2025 killing of 21-year-old Keylan Foreman. Authorities say the confrontation unfolded late at night on December 27 at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road, where Houston police responded to a call reporting a stabbing.

When officers arrived shortly before midnight, they found Foreman gravely injured in the backseat of a vehicle. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his face and nose, according to responders. Emergency medical personnel rushed the 21-year-old to the hospital, where he died from his injuries the next day.

Investigators quickly identified the vehicle at the scene as registered to Brown and contacted her at a nearby location along Eastex Freeway. In initial interviews, Brown and several witnesses told police that Foreman had been discovered lying on the ground and bleeding after an argument in the parking lot at 8800 Lockwood. However, their accounts stopped short of implicating Brown.

Several days later, the investigation took a turn when Brown arrived at a Houston police station and provided detectives with a written statement. In her account, Brown admitted she had stabbed Foreman with a screwdriver following an escalating argument inside her car. She said both she and Foreman exited the car during the argument, and while continuing to argue by the vehicle’s right front door, Foreman allegedly hit her in the face, prompting her to lash out in response.

Brown reported that she blacked out during the incident and only came to her senses after realizing Foreman was bleeding profusely. She claimed her actions were reactionary after he physically confronted her.

Law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby store, which appeared to depict Brown lunging toward Foreman and striking him repeatedly in the head. The video did not support Brown’s statement that Foreman attacked her first. Instead, police say the footage showed Brown making repeated contact as Foreman tried to move away, ultimately collapsing from his injuries.

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Foreman suffered a traumatic brain bleed and a skull fracture, identifying the wounds as consistent with an assault involving a screwdriver. The medical examiner attributed the cause of death to those injuries and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Court records show Brown remains in custody without bond as she awaits her next court appearance scheduled for Wednesday. Authorities have not indicated if any additional charges will be filed in the case.
