Tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories have flared up after a deadly raid in the West Bank city of Jenin.
According to reports, Israeli forces killed nine Palestinians in the raid, prompting a response from the Palestinian militant group Hamas, who vowed to retaliate “soon.”
The Islamic Jihad group said it was ready for the “next confrontation.”
In response, Israel launched air attacks on Gaza, reportedly hitting multiple targets.
The raids come just days after a clash between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen in Jenin, in which seven gunmen and two civilians were killed.
The violence has sparked international condemnation, with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres calling for “an immediate de-escalation of tensions.”
