Kanye West could be denied entry into Australia due to his past antisemitic comments.
According to Australian Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, West could be barred from entering the country due to his past comments.
“I’ve got no reason to believe that he would be allowed to come into the country given those comments,” Dutton said.
The comments in question refer to a 2018 interview with TMZ, in which West said slavery was a “choice” for African Americans.
The comments sparked outrage, with many accusing West of being antisemitic.
In response to the potential ban, Pope Francis has condemned Holocaust denial and said it must be rejected.
“Holocaust denial or revisionism is a crime,” he said. “It is an offence against truth and justice.”
The Australian government is currently considering West’s visa application, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.
