MGMT Drops Captivating Music Video for ‘Mother Nature’ – First Single off Highly Anticipated Studio Album ‘Loss of Life’

Brooklyn, New York – American rock duo MGMT recently announced their upcoming fifth studio album, “Loss of Life,” along with a captivating music video for their new single, “Mother Nature.” The album, set to be released on February 23, will be available through Mom+Pop.

“Loss of Life” was created by Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser in collaboration with producer Patrick Wimberly and long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann. The album features ten tracks, including a special collaboration with Christine and the Queens, marking a first for MGMT.

The animated music video for “Mother Nature,” directed by Jordan Fish, aims to evoke feelings of happiness and connection to family, friends, and the animal kingdom.

The anticipation for “Loss of Life” had been building, with Andrew VanWyngarden teasing the album by sharing a photo of a test pressing on a dedicated band subreddit. The post included a cryptic anagram, “elf of soils,” which cleverly hinted at the album’s title.

VanWyngarden and Goldwasser expressed their pride in the album, stating that its creation was a relatively smooth process after a lengthy gestation period. They are excited to release the album into the world with Mom+Pop and described its musical style as around 20% adult contemporary.

“Loss of Life” follows MGMT’s 2018 album, “Little Dark Age,” and their non-album singles, “In the Afternoon” and “As You Move Through the World.” In addition, the band released the archival live album, “11•11•11,” last year.

The album features a tracklist that includes songs such as “Loss of Life (Part 2),” “Dancing in Babylon” featuring Christine and the Queens, and “Bubblegum Dog.”

With the release of their new single and the announcement of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, MGMT is ready to captivate their audience once again with their unique blend of music and creativity.
