A mother in Duxbury, Massachusetts has been charged in the deaths of two children found unconscious in her home, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
The two children, ages 5 and 3, were found dead in the home and an infant was flown to a hospital, according to the Duxbury Police Department.
The mother, who has not been identified, has been taken into custody and is facing charges related to the deaths, the district attorney’s office said.
The Duxbury Police Department said it responded to a 911 call at the home and found the two children unresponsive.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
“This is an unimaginable and senseless tragedy,” Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims.”
The incident has shocked the community of Duxbury, a small town of about 15,000 people located about 20 miles south of Boston.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said neighbor Mark Williams. “It’s a tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
