Neighbor

Tamaqua, Pennsylvania – A man from Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, is facing charges of criminal homicide after allegedly killing his neighbor using a chainsaw and knife while wearing a mask resembling the one from the movie “Scream.” Zac Moyer, 30, stands accused of the murder of Edward Whitehead Jr., 59, in a gruesome incident that has shocked the community.

According to State Trooper Anthony Petroski, Whitehead sustained multiple wounds from both a knife and a battery-operated chainsaw in the attack. Moyer, described as wearing an all-black outfit and the iconic “Scream” mask, is said to have left Whitehead’s home through the back, arousing suspicion from law enforcement officers.

The suspect, Moyer, later turned himself in to authorities, donning a red hoodie at the time of his arrest. Prior to the incident, Moyer’s sister claimed that he had mentioned his intentions to harm Whitehead about a week before the tragic event occurred. Despite efforts to conceal the murder weapons, both the knife and chainsaw were found by the police, along with the alleged costume worn during the attack.

Whitehead’s family members expressed deep grief and disbelief over the tragedy. Jennifer Whitehead, the victim’s niece, reflected on the senseless violence, questioning the motives behind such a heinous act. Similarly, another niece, Megan Bernosky, described the incident as “mind-numbing” and highlighted the devastating impact it has had on the family.

Following his arraignment in front of District Judge Eric Schrantz, Moyer is currently being held at Carbon County Jail without bail as he awaits a preliminary court hearing scheduled for April 3. The motive behind the brutal murder remains unclear, leaving the community shaken and seeking answers in the wake of this horrific event.
