Stabbing Death at West Palm Beach Grocery Store Leads to Murder Charge: Man Arrested

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A recent altercation between two men in West Palm Beach turned deadly last month, resulting in one man being fatally stabbed and the other facing a murder charge. Manuel Orozco, 51, of Greenacres, has been accused of killing 54-year-old Iosvani Casonova Moreno during a dispute outside a community grocery store on the night of Feb. 29.

According to a West Palm Beach police report, officers responding to a 911 call found Moreno lying in the northeast corner of a bank parking lot near the Southdale Shopping Center. He had suffered a stab wound to his chest and was pronounced dead upon the arrival of West Palm Beach Fire Rescue medics.

Witnesses reported that Orozco and Moreno had been seen drinking beer outside the store before getting into a physical altercation. Surveillance footage from the store captured multiple altercations between the two men, with Moreno allegedly shoving Orozco, leading to Orozco attacking him a short while later.

Following the incident, Orozco was arrested on March 26 and appeared at a bail hearing at the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was assigned a public defender and ordered to be held without bail. The judge also prohibited Orozco from having any contact with Moreno’s family or witnesses regarding the case.

On March 2, officers obtained a warrant to collect DNA from Orozco, who chose not to provide a statement to investigators about the events leading to Moreno’s death. The investigation into the stabbing continues, with authorities gathering evidence and conducting interviews to piece together the sequence of events that ultimately led to Moreno’s tragic demise.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the community in West Palm Beach remains on edge following this disturbing incident of violence. The case serves as a sobering reminder of the potential consequences of altercations escalating to deadly levels, leaving families and communities devastated in their wake.
