Pennsylvania man stabs his elderly parents then kills his sister when she finds their bodies

CHURCHVILLE, PA – Authorities in Bucks County are investigating a shocking triple homicide after a man allegedly killed his elderly parents and sister inside their suburban home, later barricading himself for hours before being arrested.

Kevin Castiglia, 55, has been charged with three counts each of criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and recklessly endangering another person, following the deaths of his parents, 90-year-old Fred Castiglia and 84-year-old Judith Castiglia, and his 53-year-old sister, Deborah Castiglia. The incident unfolded in a typically quiet neighborhood in Churchville, sending ripples of fear through the local community.

The investigation began to unfold after Deborah Castiglia’s boyfriend became alarmed when he could not reach her. According to court documents, the boyfriend initially visited her home on Sunday but found it empty, with no sign of her or her vehicle. Concerned, he made his way to the Castiglia family home on Heather Road and spotted her SUV parked outside. After several unanswered knocks and noticing the house lights were off, he eventually left.

Still unable to contact Deborah, he returned to the family residence the following afternoon, where he encountered Kevin Castiglia. Court records reveal that Kevin answered the door clad in a bathrobe and told the visitor that Deborah had gone on vacation. The situation quickly escalated when Kevin allegedly brandished a chef’s knife at the boyfriend, warning him not to return under threat of violence. Frightened by the confrontation, the boyfriend called police.

Northampton Township Police responded to the home for a welfare check and found Kevin Castiglia armed with two knives, one of which appeared to be stained with blood. When officers pressed him for answers about his family’s whereabouts, Castiglia reportedly pointed a knife at them and retreated inside, pulling out Taser electrodes after being stunned and barricading himself inside the house.

What followed was an hours-long standoff as law enforcement negotiated with the suspect, seeking to deescalate the tense situation. After five hours, officers entered the residence, where they discovered Fred and Judith Castiglia deceased in their master bedroom. Deborah Castiglia’s body was found in the kitchen.

Kevin Castiglia was eventually located on the second floor and taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where, during treatment, he allegedly admitted to medical staff that he had harmed someone. Later, according to investigators, Castiglia confessed to killing his parents as they slept and fatally attacking his sister when she came upon the scene.

The accused has been denied bail and remains held in Bucks County jail. He appeared briefly in court on Tuesday, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 12. Investigators have yet to provide any indication of motive behind the killings.

Authorities have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Neighbors expressed shock as details emerged about the tragedy, describing the Castiglia family as quiet residents who largely kept to themselves.

This case marks one of the most disturbing homicides in the area’s recent memory, as detectives continue to piece together the circumstances and timeline of the killings. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Northampton Township Police.
