Philadelphia Woman Sentenced to Decades for DUI Deaths of 2 State Troopers and Pedestrian

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A woman has been sentenced to 27 1/2 to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and causing a crash that killed two state troopers and a pedestrian on an interstate in Philadelphia in March of last year.

23-year-old Jayana Webb of Eagleville, pleaded guilty to three counts each of third-degree murder and homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence during a hearing in a Philadelphia courtroom this week. The tragic incident took the lives of Troopers Martin Mack III and Branden Sisca, as well as 28-year-old pedestrian Reyes Rivera Oliveras.

According to District Attorney Larry Krasner, the sentencing meted out to Jayana Webb is considered “a just resolution of one of the most shocking incidents of vehicular violence in recent memory”.

During earlier court hearings, it was revealed that Webb’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit and active components of marijuana were also found in her system.

Webb’s defense attorney Michael Walker mentioned that his client, who is currently seven months pregnant, will be allowed to remain out of custody until she gives birth in February. She will also be granted some time to bond with the child before reporting to prison.

Walker stated that his client expressed deep “sorrow” and apologized to the families of the victims in court. He also emphasized that Webb will never forgive herself for the tragic incident and recognizes the impact it has had on her life.

Col. Robert Evanchick, the state police commissioner, noted that both troopers had bright careers ahead of them before their lives were tragically cut short in the senseless accident. The deaths of Mack and Sisca were a huge loss to their families and the state police force.
