KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — As the region endures a frigid Black Friday, residents are turning their attention to Saturday, which holds the potential for the first accumulating snow of the season, according to First Alert Meteorologist Katie Horner. The amount of snowfall will vary significantly depending on the specific location.
Weather impacts are expected to start on Saturday afternoon, with rain preceding a changeover to snow later in the day. The system is projected to move out of the Kansas City area by the early hours of Sunday morning. The greatest snowfall totals are anticipated in northeastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri.
Areas from Topeka, Kansas, to Maryville, Missouri, could see anywhere from two to three inches of snow. Meanwhile, the Kansas City metro area, Ottawa, and Chillicothe are likely to see anywhere from half an inch to two inches. East of that line may experience only rain or a light dusting. Residents planning to travel to Kansas, Colorado, or Nebraska are advised to take precautions, as areas west and north of the metro are expected to bear the brunt of the winter storm.
