Legendary New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 20 years in the league.
The decision comes after Robert Kraft, the owner of the Patriots, told CNN that he wanted Brady to sign a one-day contract and retire as a Patriot.
The news of Brady’s retirement was met with well wishes from his wife, Gisele Bündchen, who commented on the announcement saying, “Wishing you only wonderful things”.
According to a tipsheet from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Brady refused to go out on top, and things got complicated as a result.
Despite the complications, Brady leaves the NFL as one of the most successful quarterbacks in its history. As The Guardian noted in a video, Brady has the most Super Bowl wins, the most Super Bowl appearances, and the most passing yards in NFL history.
