7 Dead, Suspect in Custody

At least 7 people are dead and 1 injured after a mass shooting in Half Moon Bay, California on Tuesday evening. The suspect is now in police custody.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m. local time. The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident.

The victims of the shooting have not yet been identified. The suspect’s identity and motive for the shooting have not been released.

Local and state leaders have expressed shock and sadness over the tragedy. San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa said in a statement, “This is a horrific reality that no one should ever have to experience. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom also released a statement, saying, “Our hearts are with the victims and their families as we grapple with yet another senseless act of gun violence.”
