EDGEWATER, MD – Investigators in Maryland have arrested a man suspected of killing another individual just two weeks after being named the beneficiary of the victim’s life insurance policy, according to police.
Bryan Alberto Cazares, 28, is now in custody and held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center following his indictment on charges that include first- and second-degree murder. Authorities believe Cazares fatally shot 29-year-old Wilson Estuardo Marroquin Caceros before moving his body to Baltimore in August 2025.
The Anne Arundel County Police began the investigation on August 18, when Baltimore officers responded late that evening to the 2700 block of Manokin Street. There, police discovered Caceros, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The medical examiner later confirmed that Caceros died from his injuries.
Detectives traced the origins of the crime to an Airbnb rental on the 1600 block of Fullerton Road in Edgewater, about 30 miles east of Washington, D.C., and near the South River. Investigators suspect that Cazares and Caceros were together at the property the previous day, which is where the killing allegedly took place.
Further inquiry revealed that the rental property had been booked under the name “Cesasar Ramos.” After the guests left, the property owner reportedly found what appeared to be blood stains on both floors and walls. Additionally, she noticed all the towels and a mop were missing. The owner said she later contacted the renter, receiving a $50 payment for cleaning from someone identifying himself as “Bryan Cazares” through a digital payment app.
Delving into the victim’s background, detectives learned from Caceros’ wife that a $300,000 life insurance policy—originally set to benefit his immediate family—had its beneficiary changed to Bryan Cazares shortly before the killing. Investigators allege this change provided a motive for the crime.
Police also believe the suspect used a red Jeep Cherokee owned by Caceros’ wife to transport the body from the scene in Edgewater to Baltimore. Security camera footage reportedly captured the vehicle’s route, helping authorities pinpoint its movements on the night the body was abandoned.
Investigators obtained a warrant to analyze Cazares’ cellphone records, which indicated that his phone traveled the same path as the Jeep at the time of the crime. Cazares subsequently agreed to meet with detectives, but when confronted with evidence that challenged his initial account, he declined to provide further statements to police.
Caceros leaves behind a grieving family. Tributes online describe him as a father deeply devoted to his child, remembered for his commitment to providing and being present. As the investigation continues, Anne Arundel County authorities urge anyone with information about the case to come forward.
